Introducing Vanessa Joy Sperry

Vanessa decided that she wanted to join our family early. She was born Sunday, November 25, 2012 at 3:51 pm. 19.5 inches long and 6 lbs 14 oz. 10 beautiful, long fingers and toes. 

So, here's the story.

On Saturday I was having contractions like I had been having, a couple an hour, but they were getting much stronger. We decided to go on one last date before she was due. We went to the new Twilight movie, which is 2 hours. During that time, I had 18 contractions. (And I only counted the strong ones) Once we left they slowed back down, but not in strength. That night, 1 to 2 and hour would be bad enough to wake me up, but I didn't know how many I was having because I was trying to sleep. Sunday morning while getting ready for church I was having a few, and my lower back was killing me. I told Aaron I was pretty sure I was in labor. But we went to sacrament meeting anyway for a farewell. During the hour I had 12...again, only counting the strong ones. We decided that we would go to the hospital after sacrament meeting. We ran home, grabbed the bag, got Sam ready and grabbed the dinner I prep for my family and ran to my Mom's and dropped off the food and Sam. We got to the hospital about 1:30. We told them what was going on. Aaron and I figured I was just dehydrated and that they'd send me home after some fluids. They took some samples to run tests to see where I was and that it would take a half hour. The nurse left and within 4 minutes, samples still in hand, came in with the doctor on call and they told me we weren't leaving and that we were going to have a baby. He said he was Dr. Yamishiro's partner and he was going to call him and see if he would come in of if he should do it. We were in shock! We barley had anytime to tell anyone. Dr. Yamishiro wanted to be here. He was here so quickly and as soon as he got here they took me back to the OR and then Vanessa was here. She is perfect and we are so in love. Sam loves her already too. He lights up when he sees her. (Well see how long that lasts!) We feel so blessed to have these two amazing spirits in our family. Vanessa and I go home tomorrow!!!

32 Weeks

I have been horrible with pictures! Hopefully, now that I have a new camera I'll get better at it again! This isn't the best quality, it was taken with my phone, but you get the idea...I'm huge!

I am so ready to have this baby! I am super tired, sore and tired! I tell people I'm an elephant. (Cause, they are pregnant for 2 years!) I do love being pregnant, and I love feeling her move, but I'm ready to meet her. Vanessa moves a lot! She seems to be growing very well! I've been having dreams of delivering her for the past two weeks, so I am really hoping that means she will be early. (Not too early though) I still can't believe I'm going to be a mother of two in two months!!! I feel so blessed!!!

Reproductive Care Center

On Saturday, we were able to go to the zoo for free for the annual patient party from the Reproductive Care Center. (The fertility clinic where we were able to get pregnant with Sam) I was in awe with how many people where there and who's lives have been touched by the help of these doctors. Our doctor was Dr. Blauer and there was literally a line of people thanking him for their miracles. (Including us of course!)

When you entered the zoo, if you were there for the party, the gave you a white wristband to wear. I was stopped by a woman who had seen one of the other doctors 10 years ago, and asked if I would talk with her sister about my experience with my doctor. I was more than happy to. We talked for about 45 minutes! When I told them that we got pregnant with an IUI they were shocked. They both said they never heard of it working and that the first round didn't work for her, so they were going to try IVF. (All with a different clinic) I explained to her that each time you do an IUI, your percentage goes up, until the 5th try and that Sam was our 2nd try. After our long talk, she felt that there was hope. I also told her that if she was thinking of trying out this clinic but couldn't pick which doctor, to look at each head nurse. Dr. Blauer's head nurse is Liezle and my angel. I told her that Liezle goes out of her way to make you feel like you are the only person in the world and gives 110% of herself!

We are so very thankful for this place and the work they do!

Halfway Already!!!

If you haven't heard yet, we are having a girl! :) We are 98% sure on her name, Vanessa Joy. (I say 98% because I was Allison Patricia till I was born) Here are the ultrasound pictures of our sweet ladybug!

And here is me at 20 weeks...I think I am bigger this time around. But I could be wrong...I just feel huge this time!

I love being pregnant and I love feeling my baby move. Vanessa is already just as, if not more active than Sam was. She doesn't kick as much as he did, but rolls and moves a lot! I'm feeling pretty good for the most part. I sometimes get pains around my c-section due to stretching. And ever since traveling to Canada, my feet and legs swell if I stand too long. (I didn't have either of those problems with Sam) Like with Sam though, I haven't had cravings, but get talked into food easily and I'm eating a lot more candy then I normally do. (They are both Sperry babies!) For so many reasons, this pregnancy seems to be going by so much faster! For one, I have Sam to take care of! I also didn't know I was pregnant for a while and when I did know, I didn't think I was as far a long as I actually was. 

Carrying Baby #2

I can't believe I'm 12 weeks already! But than again, I didn't know I was pregnant till I was 9 weeks! The difference in knowing right away and at 9 weeks! So far, I've felt pretty much the same way that I did when I was pregnant with Sam. I have been a little sicker and can't handle raw meat, so Aaron's been cooking a lot of the food! I've been more tired than last time too, but I think that's because I have Sam to take care of and I can't just nap whenever I need it. Sam seems pretty excited, we ask him all the time if he's getting a brother or a sister and he smiles really big and laughs. With Sam, we both really felt it was a boy from the moment we knew we were pregnant, but this time we have no idea. I've been dreaming of a boy, but feel it's a girl most days. I've also noticed I'm carrying a little higher than with Sam, and they say you carry girls higher than boys. It's probably too soon to tell how high I'm carrying though.

My First Mother's Day

What a great day! For the first time in 7 years, I was able to enjoy Mother's Day. Sam makes everything so much better and I am so blessed to be his Mother! For Mother's Day, Aaron got me a mold of Sam's hand! I love it!!! Sam's hands have meant a lot to me, since he grab my hand the minute I held him. Now I get to hold my baby's hand forever! I can't believe the detail! My sister in laws, Mom did it for us. (It was actually Julianne's idea...THANKS!)

We were also finally able to tell our families our great news! Baby #2 is on the way already! Due December 11th!! No help needed this time. The next couple of pictures were not taken on Mother's Day. They were about 2 weeks ago when I told Aaron!

Aaron had gone on an overnight camp out with my Dad and brothers, so Sam and I decorated the house...mostly me! :)

The streamers led to the big sign and the test! Aaron didn't even read the signs, he went right to the end, he was so excited!!!

 This is how we told our families, so I didn't get pictures of us in the shirts. I made Sam a shirt, and another shirt for me. Not everyone got it right away, but everyone was excited for us!

We feel so blessed that we were able to get pregnant so fast again and on our own this time! I had a great Mother's Day actually being a Mom, and was able to be surrounded by all the Mom's in my life! Especially, my Mom and Kaye, my Mother-In-Law! 

P.S. We will not be having a tradition of announcing we are pregnant every Mother's Day, it's just worked out the last 2 years that way! ;)

The New Love of Our Lives!

We didn't want a Christmas baby, so we decided to be induced on December 22. (Although, I think he would have come that day anyway.) We kept thinking he would be early on his own because he had been acting like it for months now. But, he didn't and in we went on the 22. 

Last pregnant photo, 39 weeks and 1 day! Off to the hospital!

I am going to try and keep this short and not too detailed, but no promises! We got to St. Marks Hospital at 8:30 AM. They checked us in and set me up in the labor and delivery room. They finished the paper work and hooked up the IV. Almost right away, my doctor, Dr. Yamashiro, came in an broke my water. They added pitocin to my IV line. Things were moving a long great. They had to turn the pitocin down because I was progressing really well on my own. I actually went longer then I thought I would without an epidural. (Aaron and I were a little shocked!) At around 7:00 PM I was finally at a 10 and started pushing. I got a rhythm down really fast and didn't mind pushing at all. After an hour, my doctor came in and explained that the baby's head was facing to my right and couldn't get passed my pelvis. He had tried to turn it a couple of times but he would just put his head right back. He said that I could keep pushing for another hour or call it and do a c-section. However, if after another hour, we were still at the same point he was going to call it. I decided to keep pushing, so I did for another 45 minutes. I asked if there was any change, and there wasn't. So I called it and decided to have a c-section. As soon as I said it, no time was wasted, and they left to get the room ready. I had Aaron, Dad and Bryant give me a blessing. Aaron suited up and they came in and wheeled me to the operating room. (Side story...while being wheeled in the bed, I asked where the E.R. music was. They all laughed and started talking about why they can't watch hospital shows. So I started humming the theme!) They drugged me up some more and got everything ready. Aaron sat next to me and held my hand but wanted to watch and they told me he could so he stood....still holding my hand. Within minutes, I heard crying and they brought him over for me to see really quick and then took him to the warmer, which I made Aaron go with him. (Aaron's job once he was born was to stay with him the whole time.) Once he was cleaned up, Aaron brought him over to me and sat next to me. I couldn't believe how fast the nurses and doctors worked. The next thing I knew we were back in the labor and delivery room. My whole family was there (except Elisha, who had to work).I loved having them there, except they all held him before I did. Aaron could tell I was getting upset and finally was able to get him back and brought him right over. As soon as he was in my arms I started crying. He just looked at me. Started to look at his hands and was rubbing one, when he grabbed my finger and wouldn't let go! That's when I started weeping. I couldn't believe that after 7 years, he was finally here and in my arms already showing affection for me! Here are some pictures. (Everything happened so fast that we forgot to bring the camera with is in the operating room.)

We had a lot of visitors while we were in the hospital! Unfortunately we didn't get pictures of everyone, we were so overwhelmed and over the moon that it wasn't always a thought.

We have truly been blessed and couldn't ask for a better baby. We really feel the Lord has blessed us with such a good baby because we had to wait for 7 years! He eats and sleeps really well! At night he sleeps for 5 to 6 hours without waking up to eat. (And letting me sleep!) When he is awake and not eating, he is very alert and has to know what is going on around him. My favorite thing is, when he is crying all I have to do is pick him up and he stops.

So that was not really short, sorry! And I feel like I am leaving things out!
